Transforming Karachi's Transportation Landscape: COOOP's Leadership in Mass Transit Priority Corridor 1

COOOP takes pride in its role as the lead designer for the Karachi Mass Transit Priority Corridor 1 project in Karachi, Pakistan, collaborating with esteemed partners including De Leuw Cather International (USA), Delcan International Corporation (Canada), Bylander Meinhardt Partnership Pte Ltd (Singapore), and Techno Consult (Pakistan). With a project cost of PKR 13,000 million, commissioned by the Karachi Development Authority, this initiative aims to revolutionize transportation infrastructure in the city.

The project is executed in phases, encompassing environmental impact analysis, involuntary resettlement planning, preliminary design, detailed design, and the preparation of tender documents, all to be undertaken on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis. COOOP's services include traffic studies, updating ridership forecasts, preliminary engineering, cost estimates, detailed engineering design, and the preparation of tender documents.

Awarded to a consortium of international bidders led by SNC Leuvlin of Canada, this corridor holds the highest priority among the proposed corridors in the feasibility study. Despite funding constraints, the project progresses through four phases, ensuring meticulous attention to environmental, social, and engineering aspects. COOOP remains committed to delivering a transformative transportation solution that enhances mobility, accessibility, and sustainability in Karachi, reflecting our dedication to engineering excellence and urban development in Pakistan.
